It's Casa Texturas' café in Playa Flamingo, Guanacaste. From the first espresso of the day and functional mocktails, through breakfast and lunch, Tanela serves single-origin coffee, fresh local ingredients, and house-made pastries in a space that invites you to stay.
Our name comes from tanela, the traditional Guanacaste sweet made of corn, anise and cinnamon — a legacy of artisan hands that reminds us that what's made slowly tastes different. Inspired by the Nicoya Peninsula way of life, we believe in slow mornings, local ingredients, and the shared table. Open for breakfast and lunch. Welcome. No rush.

My husband and I are so happy we tried this fairly new restaurant. The flavors of the food were absolutely delicious. It started with a complimentary pickled tuna…so flavourful. Our appetitizers and entree were just as delicious. The service was also exceptional. Our waitress was wonderful and had great knowledge of the food. Will definitely be back.
